Designer’s Desk Setup | A Workspace I Actually Use Every Day

Nothing fancy here.

Just a desk I sit at every day.

A monitor. A laptop. An iPad.

That’s pretty much it.

But for some reason, this is the place where my brain works best.

Not because it looks impressive.

But because it feels easy to sit down and start.

“Good setups don’t feel designed. They just feel usable.”

My Daily Setup (Simple on Purpose)

🖥️ One monitor, one laptop, one iPad

I don’t overthink the screen setup.

Main work on the monitor.

Laptop for quick stuff.

iPad sits on a arm so it doesn’t take desk space.

That’s it. No extra drama.

Keyboard Situation

⌨️ The one I keep coming back to

I’ve tried a bunch of keyboards over time.

But I always end up using the same one most of the time.

There are a few others on the shelf behind me — just for looks or mood.

Not really “collection energy”, more like “I like these, so they stay here”.

Lighting: nothing harsh

💡 Warm light only

I use a warm magnetic light and a small night lamp.

No strong white light. No RGB everywhere.

Especially in winter, I don’t want the desk to feel cold.

Warm light just makes everything feel a bit slower and easier.

“Warm light doesn’t decorate the space. It calms it down.”

Keeping the Desk Clean (Without Trying Too Hard)

📦 Everything has a place

Cables go straight into a box under the desk.

Stuff I use often sits under the desk riser.

Phone, watch, earbuds — can be put on a small wooden tray.

If something doesn’t have a place, it doesn’t stay on the desk.

How it actually feels to sit here

🧘 It’s not a “setup moment”

I don’t really do rituals.

I just sit down, open the laptop, and start.

Sometimes I’m working. Sometimes I’m just scrolling or thinking.

But the transition is always smooth.

No mental friction.

“If a desk feels natural to sit at, it’s already doing its job.”

Final Thoughts

This desk isn’t perfect.

It’s not trying to be a “Pinterest setup”.

It’s just something I can actually live with every day.

And that matters more than how it looks in photos.

Because at the end of the day, you don’t sit at a desk to admire it.

You sit there to get things done, or to just breathe a little.

If you’re building your own workspace, start simple — one good monitor arm already changes a lot.
